Safari Half Day

We travel high into the mountains using the old trade routes and cattle tracks stopping whenever you wish for photo opportunities, drink breaks, to see our range of Safari merchandise or for you to change drivers and passengers in the buggies.  Our safari will travel through this very special National Park all the way to the village of Monda were our buggies are put back on the trailer and we join the tarmac again, the hidden secret of Castillo de Monda is just a short drive away where we stop for refreshments. This castle is now a luxury hotel and a great place for our safari to visit.

After the break in the castle we travel back by buggy and Land Rover again off road through the national park all the way back to Istan. A great Adventure for all the family!

Each of our buggies has two seats and you must have your driving license with you!  Passengers can ride the buggies from 4 years old. A limited amount of drinking water is available at no cost from our on board fridge.

The minimum amount of guest for this tour is four - if only four people, this is a one way tour, we travel back from Monda via tarmac road with buggies on the trailer.  Refreshments in the castle are not included. Official Safari merchandise is always available.

The national park Sierra de las Nieves is located in the hills behind Marbella and to the east of the road to Ronda from the Costa del Sol. The park centres on Mount Torrecilla (1909m) and covers an area of 30km by 20km or 18,530 hectares. This mountainous area has seen little human influence or activity (cultivation) even historically and has a rich variety of flora and fauna. As the name suggests, it can be snow-covered in the winter. The area was studied in the 19th century by Swiss botanist Edmond Boissier and in 1933 by Luis Ceballos. In 1970 the park was declared a National Hunting Reserve and in 1995 a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

Castillo de Monda

Ley lines meet on the hilltop where El Castillo de Monda stands today. Is this why since earliest times man has sought refuge here.  It remained neglected for over 400 years until the present owners saw their dream of restoring a castle in a spectacular setting come true. After 6 years of painstaking craftsmanship Mr Freestone and Mr Norris opened El Castillo de Monda as a distinctive and timeless hotel. Today it is not just a landmark but a second home for others to share in a unique position above the village of Monda protected by the Unesco biosphere of the Sierra de la Nieves.

Full Day Safari

From the white mountain village of Istan all the way to the historic town of Ronda. This Safari is not for the faint hearted, this Safari can take up to 8 hours, you may not see another human for up to 5 hours! 

We travel deep into the Sierra De Las Nieves (mountains of the snow) national park, (dedicated UNESCO world Biosphere Reserve) high into the mountains and into the Sierra de Ronda, (Ronda Mountains) you will be amazed just how unspoilt this place is, no rubbish, no people, it truly is a land that time forgot, 

From Istan we take the buggies from the trailer and you have the choice to ride the Land Rover or drive the buggies, with instruction, you lead, the Land Rover follows. Deep into the mountains we leave the buggies and trailer and travel in the Land Rover down in to the valley of the Rio Verde (Green River) here we stop river side for our picnic lunch, the water is cool and absolutely crystal clear, take a refreshing dip if you want. Surrounded by mountains this place is like paradise, beautiful flowers all around, butterflies and incredible blue and green dragonflies fly past as if your on the set of Jurassic Park, never seen a dinosaur as yet but you never know! You really feel as if your the only people ever to see this place!

After lunch we ride out of the valley and back to the buggies and on to the highest part of our adventure. From start to finish you be be stunned at how the landscape changes from green trees to barren rocks and every corner brings another breath taking view. With the ancient tracks and trade routes ever changing from red dust, white to grey rock, gravel, and everything in between.

Eventually we join the tarmac road and load up the buggies, here you have a choice to ride by Land Rover to see a final spectacular view of the Costa Del Sol from high in the mountains, or a short drive to visit the historic town of Ronda for a well deserved drink before we drive back to the coast along the stunning Ronda road.

Land Rover, Two Buggies, Guide.

As with all our Safari's, we do NOT have a set time to finish, we go at your pace, you stop when you want for a rest, for photo's, cigarettes, drinks. You go at your speed!

As much cold water as you need from the on board fridge – all day.

Picnic lunch – Baguette with ham and cheese or just let us know what filling you want, Hard boiled egg, Tomato, Bag of crisps, cake, apple, soft fizzy drink.  Soft drink, beer or wine on the way home, either in Ronda or a stop on the Ronda road.

This Safari is suitable for up to 5 people and has one cost - 650 euro
5 people - 130 euro per person!

Canyon Adventure:

This is one of Spain's most hidden secrets, as you travel down the canyon with your guide you would never believe you are in Spain let alone the Costa Del Sol and only a few minutes drive from the beaches!

Your Canyon Adventure begins when we collect you anywhere along the N340 coast road between Fuengirola and San Pedro in our Safari Land Rover.

We can take up to 8 guests at a time but if there are more of you we have no problem in others following along in your own car!
Cost?

For a group up to 4 people the cost is 200 euro - 50 euro per person for 4.

The next 4 people in a group pay only 25 euro per person, shared expense is only 37.50 euro each! for 8 people!

After 8 people all others will travel to the canyon in there own vehicle and they pay only 15 euro each! 

So if the whole of your group will split the cost the more of you, the cheaper it is!
