Hotel Bandolero is a small
rural hotel and restaurant located at the entrance of a tiny and charming
pueblo blanco (white village) surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.
The village of Júzcar is one of seven pueblos blancos of the Alto
Genal, an area that has only recently come to the notice of tourists, located
in the Serrania de Ronda in Málaga province. For this reason
it remains unspoiled, traditional and therefore of great interest to the
new breed of tourist who is looking for an authentic experience far away
from the crowded coasts.
Owners Iván Sastre
Pascual (originally from Ávila in central Spain) and David Nuyen
(originally from New York City, New York) relocated to this small corner
of Spain from London in October 2004 to fulfil a dream of running their
own business in the hospitality industry. The hotel is the result
of the previous owners' efforts to construct a rustic accommodation offering
country and mountain cuisine with the creature comforts of country living.
The
hotel currently consists of eight double rooms including two suites (the
owners plan some renovations adding up to four more double rooms).
Six of the rooms have fireplaces or wood burning stoves and terraces with
stunning views of the surrounding mountains. All rooms have been
decorated in a rustic style and have en-suite bathrooms; the rooms include
televisions, telephones and heating. The suites also include sitting
areas.
Diners
at Hotel Bandolero enjoy the ambiance of La Bodega del Bandolero, our rustic
dining room, serving lunch and dinner daily, or alternatively, can enjoy
their meals in El Bar de Bandolero or on the Terrace. All meals are
prepared by Chef Iván Sastre who trained in both pastry and savory
cuisine at the Cordon Bleu in London and has worked at some of London's
finest restaurants. Originally from Ávila, Spain, Chef Ivan
features fare from Ávila in his menu. A typical meal might
consist of ensalada de la casa (house salad), conejo con arroz y castañas
(rabbit with rice and chestnuts), solomillo de cerdo ibérico a la
plancha (grilled pork loin steak) or Chuletón de Ávila, a
300g steak and finished off with crema quemada de castañas (burnt
sugar chestnut cream)..
