Introduction:
This is an historic farmhouse
dating from the end of the 19th century, set in the rolling hills of the
Sierra de Aracena just east of the charming town of Aracena. These
days, it has been most tastefully restored - keeping the original structure
and the décor shows an intriguing mix of traditional country style
furniture and modern facilities. An ideal stop to discover the rural
charms of this region - don't miss charming nearby Zufre, and visit the
castles along the road to Portugal. |
| History:
A very wealthy person, legend
says she was the illegitimate daughter of King Alfonso XII, built this
as a residence on a large estate. However, she died without heirs,
and left the house to a family originally from the region that owned, and
lived in it, until the 1950's. Later, the estate and the house were
sold separately, and as the later fell into disuse the village used two
rooms as a small chapel. Subsequently, a local person from Aracena
realized it had potential as a hotel and proceeded to keep the original
structure whilst modifying the interior. He also added a small garden
and a pool. |
