Car Hire in Spain

Spain offers a variety of picturesque settings which come together to create the memories that holidays are made of. Around every corner is the chance for travelers to connect with the heart and soul of the region. There are the Sierra Nevada Mountains that provide some of the best skiing conditions in the world. Class action surfing moves can be performed from riding waves of the Cadiz coastline.

Andalusia provides a setting of constantly changing sights and sounds that leaves travelers speechless. Some of the best Mediterranean cuisine comes straight out of the kitchens in Barcelona. This is thanks to the world class chefs taking charge of the kitchens. Madrid, the capital city of Spain, provides many exciting opportunities for travelers too.

Overall a holiday to Spain welcomes travelers into a world of carnival celebrations, endless nights spent flamenco dancing and the world renowned bull fighting events.

The best way to absorb all the great elements of the region is by enlisting the services of Spanish car rentals, for assistance.

Before embarking on a road travel adventure, there are a few basic elements to driving in Spain that a driver should be aware of. To start with, all drivers both residential and international must be at least 21 years of age. In addition, the driver must be in possession of a valid license for a minimum of 12 months. Seat belt use by all car occupants is mandatory. Children under the age of 3 must be restrained in a child car seat. Those children under the age of 12 must not be seated in the front seat under any circumstances.  The legal blood alcohol limit for all of Spain is .05 mg/ml.

In the event of an emergency, ensure that all related paperwork and documentation is in order. Have all pieces of information provided by the car hire service as well as personal insurance and license information available. A minimum of two triangles must be utilized to warn other drivers that an emergency situation is taking place. In addition to this, reflective vests are mandatory to signal an emergency or vehicle breakdown. Take a few extra moments to get a feel for the rental car before leaving the car hire service lot.

Travel occurs on the right hand side of the road when driving. Therefore, right of way traffic is granted to the vehicles on the right side of the driver. Speed limits should not exceed 50 kph inside cities and towns. Open roads maintain speed limits of 90 kph and multi-lane open roads have a maximum speed of 100 kph. Regardless of where travel occurs in Spain, the maximum speed limit on any road is 120 kph.

Spain does an exceptional job at maintaining motorways and main highway roads. Be advised that many of these roadways are toll paying roads as well. A rather odd, but still true, driver rule in Spain calls for drivers who wear eyeglasses to maintain a second, back up pair, in the vehicle at all times.

With so many great destination spots in Spain, making use of a car hire service is the only way to go!
