Contrasts of Ibiza

Ibiza Accommodation  /  Travel Guide

Ibiza is synonymous with sun, sea, sangria and so much more, and whilst it is often the hedonistic reputation which makes the headlines, it is an Island with so much more to offer for all types of people. Since the 1960’s tourism has exploded in Ibiza and it is easy to see why when you consider 300+ days of sun each year, UNESCO World Heritage sites, stunning coastline and the typical Balearic laid-back attitude. Ibiza’s holiday resorts vary greatly and to illustrate this I have chosen the (in) famous San Antonio and the eastern town of Santa Eulalia:

San Antonio

San Antonio is seen by many as the party capital of Europe, with lively sunsets by Cafe del Mar setting the scene for long nights in the numerous bars and clubs of the West End. There is no doubt this is Ibiza’s liveliest and most popular resort, but the common misconception is that it is suitable solely for those aged 18-30. Hotels in San Antonio, Ibiza vary as much as those people who visit the area; with everything from budget, hostel style accommodation, to 5-star all-inclusive hotel complexes aimed at families. Whilst the youthful crowd make certain areas of San Antonio avoidable for families, others, such as San Antonio Bay, offer quieter nightlife with entertainment for all ages and add to this the beautiful palm-lined promenade and stretches of sandy beach the result is a perfect holiday destination.

Santa Eulalia

The 3rd largest of Ibiza’s towns, Santa Eulalia is a popular destination for families thanks to a tranquil atmosphere, amazing beach and great choice of restaurants and bars. Hotels in Santa Eulalia, Ibiza are tailored around the towns usual clientele with swimming pools, kids entertainment and the expected amenities all standard. Exploring the town on foot is a wonderfully pleasant experience with art galleries, interesting shops and local cafes tempting you in with their gastronomic delights. With the convenience of being only 13 miles from the international airport Santa Eulalia could not be more tailor made for the family holiday maker.

Vary rarely does the phrase “something for everyone” live up to expectations, but with Ibiza you certainly won’t be disappointed.
